‘___saos, utter soil’ is a collaborated dance piece created in 2022 for two dancers, two welding curtains, projectors, and live sound manipulation by Sanna Hirvonen, Amanda Fritzdóttir and Ida Schuften Juhl____
 
___the piece was created during two residencies (Dansverkstæðið, Reykjavík, Iceland, and Old Mine Residency, Outokumpu, Finland), as well as a work period in Joensuu, Finland___

____the piece revolves around poetry written by dancers and creatives, Sanna Hirvonen and Amanda Fritzdóttir, where movement and voice melt together. the set design consists of two PVC welding curtains on steel frames that the dancers move around throughout the piece to create different spaces, and disperse the light and projections that complete the design____
 
___Essie Koivula created the videos. the set design design plays with how overlapping material,  light, and colours can drastically alter the perception and mood of a space_____

_____the soundtrack is based off of microphone feedback and recordings made at the old mine area in Outokumpu (machines halls, mine tunnels etc). these vast, industrial sounds were heavily edited and processed to create soundscapes and rhythmic content to accompany the use of voice and poetry in the piece____

_____ the performance relies on the use of condenser- and contact microphones that are used to amplify movement and voice, as well as generate momentary microphone feedback loops.______
